Genesis

It begins.

An ember of genesis
joins with another
and divides
and, again, divides.

A haven is formed,
a safe shelter to fasten upon
for the next while.
And the ember divides
again
and again
until lively sparks
spring
into full flame.

It is the beginning
and the ending
and the middle
of an endless circle,
a living moebius strip
in time.

And again
it divides.

Don't Go

Don't go.
Don't go.
Oh God, this isn't fair.
Why now? Why me?
Why her?
We fought this fight before.
I thought we'd closed that door.
Why won't the battle stay won?

Don't go.
I refuse to watch you leave,
Struggling with the demon that would claim you.
How can I keep on the path without you?
Anger drives me forward.
Fear floods me back.

Don't go.
Don't leave me here alone.
There's no point in moving onward if you're leaving me like this.
Why must the spear that lances through
your soul
and mine
be pulled free with such brutal vengeance?

Don't go.
God, you cannot have her.
I'm not finished needing what she has to offer.
Keep us safe together,
loving, caring, working,
warm and dry and whole and strong.

Please don't go.
